BSA Troop 875
BOY SCOUT COURT OF HONOR
Troop 875 will hold their
“Court of Honor” awards ceremony on Saturday, August 28, at 2:00pm. All church members are invited to attend if they would like to see what the troop has accomplished this year. Along with the awards, they will have a slide presentation of their trip to Camp Old Indian.
The Village Church chartered Troop 875 of the Boy Scouts of America. We support the troop by use of our facilities, financial support in sending scouts to camp, and we have dedicated members who are instrumental in leadership of the troop.
The first week of July 2010, Troop 875 spent a week at the beautiful BSA Camp Old Indian in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. Attending were twenty-three Scouts, accompanied by seven dedicated Adult Leaders, enjoyed a week in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, working on a total of 118 Merit Badges, including Swimming, Citizenship in the World, Citizenship in the Nation, First Aid and Oceanography to name a few. Troop 875 also earned the Honor Troop Award as well a three other second -place ribbons and was the only Troop to have a Scout earn the coveted Paul Bunyan award. Additionally, two Scouts from Troop 875 earned the Mile Swim award and while there the Troop participated in a 5 mile hike to the top of Mount Old Indian.
“The Scouts had a wonderful time and enjoyed some positive recognition for their teamwork and display of true Scout Spirit. Outings such as these reinforce their independence, self-confidence and ability to work as a team while developing their leadership skills.” said church member and Scoutmaster Jeff Tillman.
