HOST HOMES NEEDED FOR "40 DAYS IN THE WORD" - During Lent this year, we will be joining together as a church family to study "40 Days in the Word."  While there are ongoing groups already meeting, we would like to add even more groups to accommodate our growing church.  If you have a home, a TV, and a DVD player, you meet our needs!  You pick the day and time.  You can even invite friends and family, or we can help direct people to your small group.  Please sign up on the table outside or talk with Pastor Alan.

The 40 Days in the Word Study Guide is a 200 page, essential resource that takes participants through six easy to learn methods of Loving, Learning, and Living the Word of God.

Pastor Rick Warren, via DVD from Saddleback Community Church, will guide you and your small group through what it means to not just be "hearers" of the Word, but also "doers" of the Word!  Reignite and strengthen your passion for God's Word as you and your small group learn, study, and fellowship together.  Small groups will begin meeting the week of February 19th.

TOPIC: LOVING WITHOUT AN AGENDA

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, Jeff Tarr, co-founder of The Foundry in St. Augustine, will lead a discussion of what love really is all about and how do we love without expecting something in return?

Join us as we explore the mysteries of God and his beautiful gift of love.  This breakfast is for everyone in the church as well as family, friends and neighbors.  Nursery care will be provided for families with small children.  Chef Matt and his crew will prepare a special breakfast for your enjoyment, so come and fellowship with others in our church family.  This is a great opportunity to make new friends here at The Village Church.  Reservations are a must.  A sign up sheet is available on the front patio after worship.  You can also call the church at 940-6768.

SEVEN WEEK SERMON SERIES on "The Lord's Prayer" - Starting today through March 11, Pastor Alan will focus and preach on the prayer that millions of people pray daily.  He will help us understand the meaning of each petition of this prayer.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ASH WEDNESDAY - FEBRUARY 22 - In the calendar of Western Christianity, it is the first day of Lent and occurs 46 days before Easter.  According to the Canonical gospels of Mathhew, Mark and Luke, Jesus spent forty days fasting in the desert before the beginning of his public ministry, during which he endured temptation by Satan.  Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of this forty day liturgical period of prayer and fasting.  Ash Wednesday derives its name from the practice of placing ashes on the foreheads of adherents as a sign of mourning and repentance to God.
This year we will celebrate Ash Wednesday by opening the Sanctuary all day for prayer.  There will be a prayer list, and a place to add prayers.  This will be a time of prayer, reflection and preparation.  At Noon, Pastor Bob and Pastor Alan will be available to place ashes on the foreheads of those desiring this sign.
OUR DAILY BREAD - "The seeds of aging sprout in youth, As weeds or grain they're sure to grow; But if we sow with love and truth, A golden harvest we can know." - D. DeHaan
If you keep in tune with Christ, you can sing even in the dark.
